R.K. Bhatia:: As a career diplomat, Ambassador R.K. Bhatia served India with distinction for over thirty seven years from 1972 to 2009.
He holds a Master's degree in political science from Allahabad University, India. He served as a lecturer in Meerut College, India for three years.
After joining the Indian Foreign Service in July 1972, Mr. Bhatia served in Indian Missions in Paris, Beirut, Brussels and Jakarta and as Consul General in Toronto. Later, he headed four Missions as Ambassador/High Commissioner in Kenya, Myanmar, Mexico and South Africa.
Earlier, he also served as joint secretary in Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and was responsible for India's relations with Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Maldives.
Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce recognized Mr. Bhatia's contribution to foster business relations by conferring on him the President's Award for 1997. Kenya, where he was India's PR to UNEP and UN-Habitat, gave him the opportunity to acquire expertise in multilateral diplomacy, especially during his tenure as the Chairman of Group of 77, Nairobi Chapter in 2001.
He was instrumental in establishing India-Mexico Business Chamber (IMBC) in Mexico City in 2006. While in South Africa, he helped in establishing India Business Forum (IBF), India Club and South African Indian Forum (SAIF) to foster solidarity and enhanced effectiveness of Indian Diaspora.
Known for his intellectual inclinations, Mr. Bhatia enjoys writing on a range of issues. He has published numerous articles in prestigious newspapers and magazines in India and abroad. He gave many interviews to media and delivered lectures at universities and other institutions in the countries of his accreditation. He is known to be working presently on a book analyzing his experiences including the pains, pleasures and challenges of representing India abroad.
In recent months, he has contributed a number of incisive articles on foreign policy issues to national dailies in India namely, The Hindu, The Indian Express, The Pioneer and specialized periodicals. He has participated in several seminars. He has also appeared in programmes on NDTV.
He is particularly interested in arts, culture, history and Indian Diaspora. His other interests are yoga, golf and listening to classical music. He enjoys travelling and has journeyed to 54 countries so far.
Mr. Bhatia is married and has two children.


Shajan C Kumar is an experienced Visual Editor based in New Delhi. He has worked with The India Today Group, The Indian Express Group, The New Indian Express Group and HT Media. He actively participated in the launch of 'Mint', the business daily from the HT Media group in an exclusive partnership with The Wall Street Journal. During this time, he had the chance to work closely with the world renowned Visual Journalist Dr. Mario Garcia (Sr.) and his team. Currently he is Art Director with IANS Publishing.
An expert in design software packages like QuarkXpress, InDesign, iRite pagination system, Methode Pagination system, Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop and CorelDraw Shajan has experimented with new techniques on Information Graphics. He has won the first Ejourno & Syntel Fellowship to work on 'Impact of Internet on visual Journalism'.
Shajan is an empanelled Designer with NID, Ahmedabad. and Member of the Society of News Design India and Young Readers Network. He has taken classes on News Design at Madras Christian College; Chennai, Asian College of Journalism; Chennai, MASCOM; Kottayam, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi and NID, Ahmedabad. He has also conducted an IFRA workshop on News Design.
Interactive Journalism and Newspaper in Education are the two favorite subjects of Shajan and he is researching on them. Developing new tools for better and ethical journalism is the dream project for Shajan. He has also presented a paper in a web seminar conducted by The Pennsylvania State University on Best Practices in Journalism Education series (Protocols for a design team).


Sudip Mazumdar has been Newsweek's India-based Special Correspondent for more than 26 years. Before joining Newsweek, awards-winning Mazumdar did a long stint as an investigative reporter with the Indian Express and with the Economic Times.









Sanjiv Kataria, a Strategic Communications and PR Counsel for the Services sector, has had a distinguished career in Brand Building and Corporate Communications. Sanjiv's experi-ence includes work at NIIT; ITDC and DCM.
In April 2006, Sanjiv transitioned from his role Group Executive Vice President for Marketing and Communications at the NIIT and NIIT Technologies to offer strategic inputs to companies in managing their image and reputation building.
Sanjiv played a key role in building NIIT into a Superbrand and continuously enhancing the shine around it. Sanjiv, who holds an MBA Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University, frequently writes for Financial Express, BusinessWorld, The Hindustan Times and IANS.
